What if you could take the stink out of having a kitty beast ?
Introducing the SmellyCat3 litter box accessory
Introducing the SmellyCat3 litter box accessory
Our solution is an accessory, unit attached to your covered litter box. Our unit plugs in and a tube extends into the interior of your covered litter box. This unit extracts stinky air from inside the litter box, filters it, and releases it back into the room. The air released is actually, filtered of odor.
We sold this technology previously, as the KITTYCAN and at trade shows would challenge participants to a sniff test. The challenge was to correctly, identify what substance was in the coffee can. They would sniff the air coming through our demonstrator litter box and through our KITTYCAN unit. When they could not detect the substance in the can we would let them sniff the inside of our litter box. Then they would get pummeled by the gagging scent of pungent Limburger cheese. Yes, this technology really works!!!
Also being a cat family, we have a litter box next to our dining room table- no smell. If it did smell we would banish the litter box to somewhere less obtrusive. We are not weird, we just set it there for convenience and have not sniffed a need to move it.
SmellyCat3 utilizes the tried and true filtration media, Carbon and Zeolite. These two are somehow quite magic in their ability to scavenge odors. We simply harness the power of these two filtration media and cleverly apply it where it really counts- the litter box.
Our unit uses a fan to move the air from your enclosed litter box and through the filter media and then back into the room. This constant moving the air has other benefits too.
Scooping the litter box is everyone else's job. But when you are the one that has to do it- we have you covered. The SmellyCat3 has a drying effect on the solids. This means that when you open the litter box and expect to be gagging, you will be pleasantly surprised. The drying and skinning over of the solids has an actual odor reduction quality. My wife says, it is still stinky town but not as bad as it usually is. I don't think it is near as bad.
A great problem to have in not being pummeled by a wall of stink every time kitty goes a scratching is having to scoop less. It is true, using our unit will allow less total cleanings over time. Just think what you would do with the time you save not scooping? You could tell all your friends about the SmellyCat3 or solve world hunger, or both.
Be forewarned, not having to smell the scat means, at some point kitty will alert you to the less than ideal situation in the covered litter box. Yes, they will find a facility that does not require cleaning their paws so much. Don't be that guy- scoop, scoop, scoop! But you do get to scoop less.
One can continue to use the expensive litter, or not. The OR NOT is why our unit is not in all pet stores. A huge pet products manufacturer told us, our invention was great but hoped it never came to market. Most of their revenue was expensive kitty litter. They said our unit would destroy their revenues.
So you can use cheap litter if you want. Just don't use anything that would cause much dust, as that might clog the carbon and zeolite media a bit, and require a shake.
In our house, we use clumping litter because it is easy to scoop. We use nothing with chemical smells to great success. One may even find play sand a viable solution.
We are manufacturing the SmellyCat3 right here in north central Florida using as many domestically produced parts as we can.
We are also making the unit using many bio degradable parts as possible. This is an attempt to keep some plastics out of the landfills. Plastics are becoming a real problem and burning plastics is an even greater problem. So we recognize how useful plastics are but are trying to use alternatives if possible.
The outer housing being made of wood is also a benefit in being able to make the litter box accessory fit in any style decorating motif.
It can be painted.
It can be bedazzled with jewels
It can be wallpapered
It can be covered in stickers.
It can be left raw and wild, like your kitty. Just don't block the fan exhaust.
Magic or supreme effectiveness does not have to be tied to computer chips and Bluetooth connectivity.
A wood box, a muffin fan, near magic filter media, sophisticated baffle system and media chamber, a suction tube, and a power inverter. It does not check your mail, shine light in dark places, or make you coffee. All it does is scavenge odor from air as it passes through. Yet, it does it so well. It is hard to fathom how life changing this product can be for the cat owner and their attached families. This little box may even save marriages or save the lives of many cats that would be otherwise discarded. It is the best equalizer for those of us that love our kitties and must have them close enough to cuddle.
Those that love their pets are willing to accept some discomforts in having them around. It is not uncommon for some to become near immune to the pet odor their house can have. For those that are immune or those that are aware but are willing to tolerate the smell, out of love, we suggest this product as a gift. It can be added to near all covered litter boxes with little to no modification. All it needs is a small hole to install the suction tube and an electric outlet of some kind.
We don't really know. I have been using a parent KITTYCAN unit off and on for years that works great. These units were built and sold in 2001. We were building KITTYCANs in Houston when 9/11 happened. We were at our manufacturing facility when my sister called with the news about the catastrophe. So the unit I have been using for years, the filter media is still good. Expect to really get you moneys worth out of each unit. The benefits in odor reduction and time saved in scooping less and money saved in less fancy litter, will easily pay off the unit in a year. We believe the components in this unit should last many years.
Our goal is to make a unit that works so well, that you will tell your friends and family about it and they will buy it. This way we don't have to rely on the repurchasing and as a result, contributing to plastics in the landfill.
We designed this unit with ease of shipping in mind. We intentionally decided the unit should fit in a USPS fixed rate package. This way our shipping costs could be easily calculated. We also decided that people don't really care about us wasting time or upping the cost of the unit to pay for color glossy packaging. So we are shipping in USPS boxes. We are devoting our expenses to including enough filter media in our unit to do a fantastic job. Plus, there is nothing still on the market that does what ours does so well. So accept our crummy packaging or keep wasting money on expensive litter and gimmicky products. Our unit DOES the job.
To make the SmellyCat3 work you will need to start with a covered litter box. This can be a commercially available covered litter box with a flap for a kitty door. This can also be a tote box with a lid and holes cut in the right places.
The box should not be a wicker trunk due to it's porous nature. One needs to be able to concentrate the air flow through the kitty entrance and over the litter.
An enclosed wood box, plastic tote, carboard box and a litter tray, all could be used.
Since we are not selling a finished litter box, we are selling a litter box accessory it will be necessary to cut a hole. This hole needs to be the diameter of the suction tube 1.5 inches round. This hole needs to be cut when the chosen litter box is put in position and the SmellyCat3 is mated to it's perfect position next to or behind it. Once in place mark a circle around the suction tube on the litter box, then cut that hole.
Very carefully, or course. Get some help if you have to.
If using a 1.5 inch hole saw and a drill (preferred method) start centering hole in forward gear of drill. When centering hole is through drill larger hole in reverse to not catch and splinter plastic.
Plastic cuts and drills better if it is slightly heated. One can use a toaster or hair dryer to make the plastic a bit more cutable. Just dont touch hot appliances to plastic and melt it. A serrated steak knife or heavy duty scissors can cut warm plastic very efficiently. Be careful not to cut yourself.
Face it, some of you should not even own tools. Have a friend help you if you are that person. It is a simple round hole, but stitches are expensive and blood does stain. I am sorry this is kind of a do it yourself thing, but the hole has to be cut so as to not leak much air and you also not wound yourself. Be wise.
Other methods are the ice pick over an adequate flame can melt small sections at a time. But this method also has risks- please don't hurt yourself.
Make sure and turn SmellyCat3 upright and shake to settle filter media into the media chambers on either side of the the center baffle. Filter media will settle to one side of unit in shipping. So shaking and tilting to fan side to get filter media to balance out is pretty important.
Put the SmellyCat3 in it's new home with the suction tube threaded into the new hole in the back of the litter box. The suction tube can be extended either way and should be situated so that the cat has to deal with less of the suction tube when in the litter box.
Roll a worm of plumbers putty included and wrap around suction tube at litter box and filter unit to seal off loss of essential vacuum.
Plug it in.
Don't forget about us and please tell your relatives, friends, and neighbors about the SmellyCat3. We are excited to see how lives have been changed by this simple technology.
Show us how you wound up decorating your SmellyCat3. Did you bedazzle it, or paint it, or wallpaper it, or leave it raw?
Also show us what you have been using effectively as litter and a litter box? Such ideas might really help others.
